Under his stewardship, Tottenham have become a globally recognised football institution, competing in European tournaments in 18 of the past 20 seasons. The club has invested heavily in its infrastructure, establishing a world-class stadium, a state-of-the-art training complex, and a thriving academy system that continues to produce top talent. All of this culminated when the club lifted the Europa League trophy, ending a 17-year wait for silverware, beating Manchester United in the final in the 2024-25 campaign.

Levy said: “I am incredibly proud of the work I have done together with the executive team and all our employees. We have built this club into a global heavyweight competing at the highest level. More than that, we have built a community. I was lucky enough to work with some of the greatest people in this sport, from the team at Lilywhite House and Hotspur Way to all the players and managers over the years.

“I wish to thank all the fans that have supported me over the years. It hasn’t always been an easy journey but significant progress has been made. I will continue to support this club passionately.”

Peter Charrington, Non-Executive Chairman, said: “I am very honoured to become Non-Executive Chairman of this extraordinary Club and, on behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Daniel and his family for their commitment and loyalty to the Club over so many years.

“This is a new era of leadership for the club, on and off the pitch. I do recognise there has been a lot of change in recent months as we put in place new foundations for the future. We are now fully focused on stability and empowering our talented people across the Club, led by Vinai and his executive team.”

The average age of Chennai Super Kings’ squad, as things stand. They have an 11-member squad, comprising familiar old hands in MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Faf du Plessis and Dwayne Bravo. Only one of their players is aged below 30 (Ravindra Jadeja), and two of them (Harbhajan Singh and Imran Tahir) will be over 40 when this three-year cycle ends. They are also the only franchise to not have signed up even a single uncapped player so far.

Kings XI Punjab entered the bidding for 40% (21) of all capped players (53) in the auction today, eventually signing just five of them, apart from picking up two through the Right-to-Match option. While this is not an abnormal ratio, their keenness early on after having retained only Axar Patel was visible, as they bid for 12 out of the 16 marquee players, across various categories and skill-sets. Late in the day, they were desperate to acquire a capped legspinner, bidding for four of them and failing every time.

After a middling season in 2015, Sunrisers Hyderabad bought him for less than half that price ($1.04 million) in 2016, and decided not to retain him ahead of this year’s auction. This time, he did not attract a single bid beyond his base price. After seven seasons, Yuvraj will turn out for his home franchise Kings XI Punjab, for whom he was the icon player before the inaugural season in 2008.

The average sum spent on uncapped allrounders, which is more than bids received by the likes of Gautam Gambhir, Ajinkya Rahane, Imran Tahir, Jos Buttler and Colin Munro. Uncapped players were pushed up for bidding on day one earlier than usual, and franchises made the most of that.Krunal Pandya, who was retained by Mumbai Indians for INR 8.8 crore (USD 1.375 million), became the costliest uncapped player ever, while success stories from other T20 leagues, including Jofra Archer and D’Arcy Short, were sold for high sums either side of USD1m. India’s Under-19 fast-bowling allrounder Kamlesh Nagarkoti, currently playing in the U-19 World Cup, also attracted a bid of INR 3.2 crore (USD 500,000).

Masabata Klaas four-for, Marizanne Kapp 52 give South Africa first win in tri-series

West Indies’ batting woes continued as they went down to South Africa by 44 runs in the second match of the women’s T20I tri-series in East London. After Marizanne Kapp’s fifty propelled South Africa to 141, Masabata Klaas’ four-wicket haul helped them bounce back from the opening game defeat to India.

Kapp lifts South Africa

A spin-heavy West Indies restricted South Africa to a competitive total on a slow and sluggish surface at Buffalo Park. After being asked to bowl first, Shamilia Connell dismissed Anneke Bosch early in the fourth over when she was caught by Britney Cooper while trying to heave it over the mid-off fielder. They ended the powerplay at 43 for 1, with Laura Wolvaardt playing a steady knock and bringing out her trademark cover drives. However, the opener was out for 25 in the ninth over, off Shamika Gajnabi when Wolvaardt tried to slice a full ball on the off stump, and was caught by the wicketkeeper. Lack of footwork cost her her wicket. It was Sune Luus and Kapp who lifted South Africa, as Kapp once again thrived at No.3. Walking in at 58 for 2 in the ninth over, the duo stitched together a key 63-run stand off 53 balls for the third wicket. Though the surface was conducive to slow bowlers, aiding them with turn and uneven bounce, Kapp played a cautious yet crucial knock to propel the team to an above-par total. The seam-bowling allrounder brought up the team’s hundred in the 16th over when she hit Gajnabi for a straight four, with the scoring rate hovering between six and seven during her innings. In her innings of 52 from 43 balls – her second half-century in the format – Kapp unleashed four boundaries, converting low full tosses and half volleys to fours, and also keeping the scorecard ticking. Her partner Luus struck 30 off 26 deliveries with three fours. The 18th over by Hayley Matthews saw both the set batters back in the dugout: Luus was run-out while Kapp was caught at long-off when she heaved a tossed-up delivery to try and up the scoring rate.West Indies used seven bowlers on Saturday, but eventually it didn’t prove enough to end their losing streak in T20Is since October last year.

South Africa’s Klaas act

Scoring never looked effortless in East London, especially for West Indies, who had lost eight of their previous nine T20Is. That their star allrounder Stafanie Taylor had to miss out didn’t help their cause too. Taylor is still working herself back to full fitness after recovering from the injury she suffered while batting in the ODI series against New Zealand in September last year.West Indies had made six changes to the XI that played against England in their previous T20I in December, still trying to find a partner to open the batting with Matthews. If Aaliyah Alleyne had opened the batting for the home series against England, they tried Britney Cooper on Saturday. But Cooper perished while trying to clear the mid-off fielder, and became Klaas’ first victim. They never looked comfortable in the chase, as West Indies collapsed from 32 for 0 to 67 for 6. Three of those six wickets went to Klaas, who was on a hat-trick in the tenth over when she removed Matthews and Gajnabi off successive deliveries. While Matthews tried to slice and was caught at backward point, Gajnabi was trapped lbw.Matthews tried to hold fort by scoring a patient 35-ball 23 before being dismissed. Cooper, Shamilia Connell and Shemaine Campbelle got to double figures but the target was far out of their reach.Klaas, who came back in the 19th over to finish her quota, removed Afy Fletcher with a toe-crushing yorker to finish with a career-best 4 for 21.

GettyWHO IS IN?

Former Brentford striker Toney was overlooked by Tuchel in his first selection, on the back of the 29-year-old’s transfer to Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ahli. He is now hoping to add to his collection six international caps after rejoining an attacking unit that includes England captain Harry Kane – fresh from his Bundesliga title triumph that has broken a much-publicised trophy curse.

Chelsea playmaker Palmer and Arsenal winger Saka come straight back in after recovering from injuries earlier in the season, while Liverpool full-back Alexander-Arnold is included ahead of his impending move away from Anfield as a free agent.

He is expected to join Jude Bellingham at Real Madrid, with the Blancos midfielder called upon despite requiring shoulder surgery at some point this summer. Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White has earned another call-up after being drafted in as late cover last time around, while Ajax captain Jordan Henderson is looking to put Eredivisie title pain behind him.

WHO MISSES OUT?

Marcus Rashford returned to the England fold on the back of a positive start to his loan spell at Aston Villa from Manchester United, but he is now nursing a hamstring problem that has kept him stuck on the sidelines.

Manchester City star Phil Foden has also been short of match fitness, giving others an opportunity to impress in the creativity department, while Dominic Solanke is overlooked on the back of becoming a Europa League winner with Tottenham.

Adam Wharton continues to be billed as a Three Lions superstar of the future, but the Crystal Palace midfielder remains on the outside looking in for now. Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw are other notable absentees, with no Manchester United players getting the nod once again.

    WHAT HAPPENED?

While Tigres are still fighting for a spot in the Clausura 2025 final, their front office is already working behind the scenes to make a major splash ahead of the Apertura 2026. The club, currently managed by Guido Pizarro, advanced to the semifinals in dramatic fashion—overcoming AtlĂ©tico de San Luis amid controversial refereeing – and face Toluca in the first leg of their semifinal series tonight.

Off the field, however, Tigres are reportedly on the verge of landing a marquee signing: Argentine international Ángel Correa. The Atlético de Madrid midfielder, a 2022 World Cup champion with Argentina in Qatar, is set to join Liga MX in a move that could send shockwaves through Mexican football.

According to renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, a verbal agreement has already been reached between AtlĂ©tico and Tigres. The deal is expected to be finalized at a reported fee of $6.7 million. Correa, who has also won LaLiga (2020–21) and the UEFA Europa League (2018) with the Spanish side, has been on Tigres' radar since March. After weeks of negotiations, the move is now close to completion.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

At 29, Correa brings an impressive resume. With Argentina, he has won the 2021 Copa AmĂ©rica, the 2022 CONMEBOL–UEFA Cup of Champions, and the 2022 FIFA World Cup. At club level, his career began at San Lorenzo, where he lifted the Argentine Primera DivisiĂłn (Torneo Inicial 2013) and the Copa Libertadores in 2014 before moving to Europe.

If confirmed, this would be one of the biggest signings in Liga MX in recent years – a major coup for Tigres as they look to remain title contenders both now and in the seasons ahead.

    WHAT MAURICIO CULEBRO SAID

Tigres Sporting President Mauricio Culebro recently hinted that Correa was a top target, saying: “We’ve always said we explore several options for each position. He’s a great player—one any club would love to have—but there are others as well. We’re waiting for the right time, once the tournament ends, to make the final decision.”

Culebro also addressed the decision to appoint Guido Pizarro as head coach, who took over from Veljko Paunović while still an active player on the squad. “Little by little, the team is starting to grasp the idea, and this match was a clear example of why we brought in Guido,” he said during a press conference. “He embodies the Tigres profile—that never-give-up mentality. These kinds of matches are often won not just with football, especially when the game doesn’t go your way, either because of the opponent or the circumstances. In those moments, you have to dig deeper, and that’s exactly what the team did.”

ECB lays out case against Yorkshire defendants as CDC hearing begins

Hoggard and Bresnan accused of making repeated racist remarks during time at club

Osman Samiuddin01-Mar-2023The ECB opened the long-awaited, much-delayed Cricket Discipline Commission’s racism hearings by laying out its case against, among others, former fast bowlers Matthew Hoggard and Tim Bresnan. On the opening day of hearings at the International Arbitration Centre in London, the ECB accused Hoggard, Bresnan and John Blain of repeatedly making racist remarks while at Yorkshire. The trio were accused of directing words and phrases such as p***, “you lot”, “Rafa the K****” and “Fit p***” at players including Azeem Rafiqand Adil Rashid, as well as Azeem’s sister Amna, on a number of occasions over the course of a decade from 2008.All three strongly deny the charges. In all, the ECB has charged six players, including Michael Vaughan, Richard Pyrah and Andrew Gale, as well as Yorkshire. Five of those charged have refused to attend the hearings. That added a procedural but surreal feel to matters on the opening day, where Azeem appeared three times on the witness stand for the ECB only to not face any questioning either from the ECB or the three-person CDC panel. The charges stem from allegations made by Rafiq. According to the ECB, in an initial response to the charges, Hoggard, who withdrew from the process in February, admitted having used the term “Rafa the K***” and “p***” but denied racist or discriminatory intent. He could not recall the exact occasions when he used the terms. Hoggard was also accused of using “you lot” with reference to Rafiq and other players of Asian origin but denied racist intent. As a consequence, Hoggard admitted in part to having breached ECB directive 3.3 – on prejudicial and discriminatory behaviour. The accusations against Bresnan are based on his alleged use of the term “the brothers” when referring to players of an ethnic minority, to using “you lot” and “fit p***”. These are all said to have taken place between 2009 and 2018. In his initial response to the ECB, Bresnan denied being in breach, admitting that he did use the first two terms but not in a way that was in breach of directive 3.3. In that response, Bresnan denied using the third term altogether. As part of its evidence against Bresnan, the ECB referred to an allegation of bullying against Bresnan that was upheld in the Squire Patton Boggs (SPB) report from August 2021. That report was based on one of the first investigations into Rafiq’s allegations of racism at Yorkshire and has never been released in full. In a summarised version that was released, seven of Rafiq’s 43 claims were upheld.Yorkshire have admitted to all four charges laid against them and will not appear at the hearing. The mishandling of the SPB report was one of the charges the ECB laid against the county. Another emerged last week in the admission by Yorkshire that it had deleted emails or documents related to the Rafiq case in or around November 2021.Blain, the former Scotland cricketer, was accused of having used the term “p***” during pre-season training at Headingley in April 2010 and, non-specifically, on other occasions while at Yorkshire in 2010-11. Blain denied the incidents in his initial response to the ECB. In their evidence, the ECB referred again to the SPB report which they said upheld the allegation that Blain used the term “p***” against Rafiq. As a result of the absences, the first day developed into a frictionless one. The ECB’s lead counsel Jane Mulcahy KC would detail the board’s case against each defendant, a couple of witnesses – including Rafiq – would be called up and simply be asked to confirm their witness statements were correct and authentic. The panel, having read those statements, had no questions and because the defendants didn’t appear, had nobody to question.Related

That will change with the expected appearance of Vaughan on Thursday, the only one of the six individuals charged to be appearing. Vaughan has been accused of having said “There’s too many of you lot” at the start of a T20 game in June 2009 to four Asian-origin or Asian players in the Yorkshire team that day. He has denied the charge. The ECB did, however, take the opportunity to “correct a number of misrepresentations” about the disciplinary process, in light of the withdrawals of the defendants. Pyrah had said he had not been questioned by the ECB on the charges, which the ECB said was “false”. They detailed communication with him on the matter. Similarly, they refuted Bresnan’s claims to have been charged without being spoken to by pointing to a transcript of an interview with the ECB.Adil Rashid, currently in Bangladesh with England’s ODI team, is also expected to appear as a witness via video call. The ECB’s cases against Gale and Pyrah are also still to be heard.”The non-attending Respondents have referred, both in these proceedings and in public, to Mr Rafiq’s allegations not having been appropriately challenged,” Mulcahy said. “Of course, by withdrawing from these proceedings, the Respondents have denied themselves the opportunity to challenge Mr Rafiq’s allegations themselves.”The hearing is expected to end on Tuesday next week, though the CDC’s judgment is expected at a later date.

Shastri backs Rahane's inclusion in WTC final squad: 'In a one-off, you need your most experienced players'

Shastri also tells ESPNcricinfo that he did not attend a single selection meeting during his stint as India head coach

Shashank Kishore28-Apr-20233:50

Shastri: You need Rahane’s experience for the WTC final

Ravi Shastri, the former India coach, is “glad” the selectors have valued Ajinkya Rahane’s experience in picking him for the WTC final against Australia at The Oval from June 7-11. He underlined Rahane’s desire to play first-class cricket and the runs he made there as one of the key differentiators.Rahane captained Mumbai during the 2022-23 Ranji Trophy, where they narrowly missed qualifying for the knockouts. He made 634 runs in 11 innings at an average of 57.64, including two centuries.A night prior to the BCCI announcing the Indian squad via a media release, Rahane impressed with a 29-ball 71 in a Player-of-the-match winning effort for Chennai Super Kings against Kolkata Knight Riders. Overall, Rahane’s powerplay game and his six-hitting in the season has come in for appreciation.”I’m so glad he’s made it to the side,” Shastri told ESPNcricinfo on the . “He batted beautifully in these two-three games he’s played in the IPL, has looked in great touch. And let’s not forget the experience he has. The moment Shreyas Iyer was injured, you had to look in that direction.”Related

Rahane returns to India Test squad for WTC final

How Ajinkya Rahane became sixy

“People think he’s just played three IPL games and that’s why he’s in the side. They must have been on holiday for six months when he was playing first-class cricket. They must’ve been somewhere in the jungle where there’s no contact with anyone in the world. When you go six months into a holiday, you miss those 600 runs.”Rahane’s spot had been under scrutiny after runs dried up post his heroics on the Australia tour in 2020-21, where he led India to their second-straight Test series win amid several challenges posed by injuries and Covid protocols. His previous Test hundred had come on that second Test of that tour as a stand-in captain, on Boxing Day in Melbourne, to help India level the series after they had slumped to 36 all out in an embarrassing loss in Adelaide.Since being left out, Rahane battled a wrist injury that limited his IPL participation last year. Once he returned, he touched upon playing with freedom and without worrying about a comeback. Shastri compared Rahane’s comeback to Cheteshwar Pujara’s.Pujara too found himself out along with Rahane after the South Africa tour last year, but prolific returns in county cricket fueled his return. He made eight hundreds – including three doubles – for Sussex across formats, last year.”Absolutely, it’s a one-off big game, like the Super Bowl, and you need your experienced player,” Shastri said of Rahane’s inclusion. “Don’t forget just two-and-a-half years ago, the man won a Test series in Australia. He was the captain when Virat [Kohli] went [on paternity leave] and did a sterling job.”People forget that hundred at the MCG, the way he played, and the fact that he’s gone back to the grind. You saw what it did with Pujara, he went back to the grind playing domestic cricket, playing county cricket, just got the number of runs under his belt, then came back into Test cricket and performed. It’s the same thing with Rahane, let’s hope that experience comes handy.”Shastri didn’t mince words when asked if chatter around Rahane’s good form and his ball-striking may have been a factor in his eventual selection. “Oh, a lot, because the memory is fresh,” he responded. “Domestic cricket was over two months ago. People might tend to forget it, even the selectors. Suddenly you come in and play that kind of innings where you look at ease, the timing is good, the footwork is good, the confidence is good, it would’ve definitely helped.””People think Rahane just played three IPL games and that’s why he’s in the side. They must have been on holiday for six months when he was playing first-class cricket”‱Getty Images

‘Wasn’t invited to a single selection meeting’Shastri also opened up about his seven-year tenure with the Indian team across two stints between 2014-2021, first as team director and then as head coach. His last assignment was the T20 World Cup in 2021, before Rahul Dravid took over in November 2021.Shastri categorically stated not having sat in a single selection meeting in this period, while also elaborating on why a coach needed to be there even if it wasn’t in a voting capacity.”I have zero first-hand experience [of attending selection meetings],” he said. “Seven years I was part of the team, I never went near a selection meeting. I wasn’t invited either. I think in the long run, yes [a coach should be invited].”You spend a lot of time with the boys, it’s important, even if not in voting capacity, but to hear what the selectors are thinking, what is their train of thoughts are. And then to decide what could be the right thing for the side. I have zero idea how it starts, how it finishes, who are there in the meeting. From what I gather, there were a lot of people [in the meetings], over the last three-four years, inside selection meetings, not supposed to be there, against the constitution but pitched up.”However, Shastri did acknowledge that he had reservations attending such meetings for the possibility of players not opening up to him if they knew he had a say in selection.”I needed the trust of the player,” Shastri explained. “if a player knew I was a selector or I could influence a selector/chairman of the committee, then will he open up to me? Will he have the same trust in me? There could be a certain people who will come and still be open and upfront, there could be a certain people who might not want to, and I don’t blame them because they may have some reservations.”From my point of view, that’s why I thought it’s best to stay away, but in the long run, especially when a team is in the rebuilding stage, it’s extremely important that a coach who spends a lot of time with the players within the confines of the dressing room can give some valuable inputs.”

Rashid Khan struck on the helmet as Qalandars lose to Kings

Having already qualified for the play-offs, Lahore Qalandars rested their captain Shaheen Shah Afridi and lost their final league game to Karachi Kings but that won’t worry them so much as the fact that Rashid Khan had to retire hurt, having been hit on the helmet. Qalandars are due to face the big-hitting Multan Sultans in the Qualifier on Wednesday and they’d really prefer going into that game with their ace legspinner in fighting form.Far removed from those concerns though, the Kings were able to celebrate just their third win of the tournament, which took them off the bottom of the points table. Muhammad Akhlaq, after a poor first two seasons in 2021 and 2022, struck his first PSL half-century. An innings of 51 off 36 balls that set the Kings up for the final flourish provided by the captain Imad Wasim (43 off 31) and Ben Cutting (33 off 14). They were able to put up a total of 196 for 7 after choosing to bat in Lahore, with Tayyab Tahir also contributing a sprightly 40 off 23 balls at No. 3.The Qalandars’ chase went nowhere as they lost their top order inside the powerplay and continued to collapse. They were 79 for 7 when Rashid had to retire hurt at the end of the 15th over. He’d got hit in the 14th, trying to pull a James Fuller bouncer, but continued batting after receiving medical attention. Things seemed okay, especially when Rashid was able to hit the first ball after taking the blow, for an emphatic boundary over square leg. But he couldn’t go on for much longer. The Kings’ bowlers enjoyed as good a time as their batters with Imad, Akif Javed, Mohammad Umar and Imran Tahir all picking up two wickets a piece.

According to journalist Matteo Moretto, Barcelona are still in the race to sign United outcast Rashford this summer. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano also confirmed on Wednesday that the England international has been on Barca's shortlist since January, adding that he'll be available to all clubs for £40 million (€48m) when the transfer window opens.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Rashford had a successful loan stint at Aston Villa in the second half of the season after he left United in the January transfer window. At the time, it was reported that Villa had the outright option to buy him for ÂŁ40m this summer. However, earlier this month, confirmed that the Villans did not possess the right of first refusal on Rashford, with the Red Devils set to offload him to any club that can meet his ÂŁ40m asking price.

While he revived his form at Villa Park, earning a comeback to the national team under Thomas Tuchel, it's not guaranteed that Villa will be able to complete his signing. As such, Barca see this as the ideal moment to capitalise, given he doesn't appear to have a future at Old Trafford under Ruben Amorim. Rashford, for his part, is also believed to be inclined towards a switch to La Liga, with his agents meeting the club's representatives this week.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Rashford is admired by Barca head coach Hansi Flick and sporting director Deco, but he's not the only player being monitored to strengthen their attack ahead of next season. Deco himself confirmed that they like Rashford, as well as Liverpool left winger Luis Diaz, who is reportedly the Barca chief's top transfer priority. The Catalans' financial troubles are well-documented, so it remains to be seen if they can carry out a transfer operation in excess of €80m (£67m) for the Colombian this summer.

ESPNcricinfo staff14-May-2023Sanju Samson did not have an answer to why and how Rajasthan Royals’ fortunes have fluctuated in IPL 2023 as they were skittled out for 59 – the third-lowest total in the history of IPL – chasing 172 against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Jaipur.Royals’ top three of Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Samson have done the bulk of the scoring this season in the powerplay, but with them falling inside the first two overs, the chase never took flight. With the Jaipur surface showing signs of slowing down, all three batters were dismissed playing expansive strokes, which Samson agreed was down to the nature of the surface.Related

When Maxwell went all Darth Vader against spin

“In our batting, the top three were scoring a lot of runs in the past few games. We go really hard in the powerplay, but today it did not come out well,” Samson told the host broadcasters after the game.”It is the nature of T20 cricket. You have to go hard at the bowlers in the powerplay, knowing that the wicket is slowing down when the ball is getting older. That’s how Jaiswal, Jos and myself play in the powerplay, but today it didn’t work.”RCB’s 171 always felt a bit above par on a two-paced surface, but Samson felt the score was just about par and with a decent powerplay the result could have been different.”I think that [the game] could have gone to the wire, that’s what I felt. It could have been a very tight match if we had a decent powerplay and through the middle if we played spin really well. That was a par score on this wicket,” he said.Faf du Plessis, on the other hand, said that the Jaipur pitch was a “really difficult” one and felt that 160 was a really good score here. That RCB managed 171 gave the side extra confidence. Anuj Rawat’s 11-ball 29 not out came in handy as they collected 18 runs off the final over to breach the 170-mark.Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell crafted a quick second-wicket stand‱BCCI”It was a really difficult pitch,” du Plessis said. “We batted first and assessed the conditions. Even early on in the powerplay, we felt like that ball was staying really low. So we kind of thought 160 would be a good score. The last few hits towards the end pushed us to a really good score.”For someone to just give us the momentum at the backend, we haven’t quite managed to do that very well. Today to do that and then you get that feeling in the dugout and you have everyone’s shoulders out, the confidence is high.”It is really good for our net run rate as well. We needed it. Lucky it unfolded the way it did.”With four wins in their first five games, Royals started their tournament brightly. However, since then things have taken a turn for the worst. They have managed just two wins in eight games and a loss by a margin of 112 runs means their net run rate has also taken a massive hit. With wickets falling at regular intervals, could the batters out in the middle then have taken a safety approach keeping the net run rate in mind?”You can think about the game in a lot of different ways. People batting there might have thought they still have the game in their hands. You can’t blame them the way they batted, but we will have to take the responsibility as a whole team,” Samson said.Royals are currently on 12 points with just a game in hand and have their playoffs spot hanging by a thread. Samson, though, is not losing hope just yet and believes “funny things happen at the end of the league stage.””We all know the nature of IPL, we all know that things can change in a couple of days. You never know how teams come up, how actually things happen. So we will have to be strong, we’ll have to keep the confidence up, we’ll have to do the job. We have to be professional,” he said.”We have to take one day off and then think about the game we are playing in Dharamsala and we’ll have to give our best. We never know. With the run rate and with all people playing really well, you definitely have to keep your hopes high.”
